People & user groups
Browse the workspace directory and use @-mentionable user groups.
Two features help you find and reach the right people: the people directory for browsing everyone in the workspace, and user groups for mentioning a set of members at once.
People directory
The directory is a searchable, paginated list of everyone in your workspace. Search by name, or filter the list to find who you're after:
- By role — owner, admin, or member.
- By celebration — who has a birthday or work anniversary this month.
- By join date — see who's new, or who's been around longest.
Open a person from the directory to see their profile.
User groups
A user group is a named, @-mentionable collection of members. Each group has:
- A handle — a unique slug you type to mention the group.
- A description — a short line explaining who the group is for.
@mentioning a group in a message notifies its members who are also in that channel. People in the group who aren't in the channel aren't pulled in.
Groups and channels
A group can be assigned to one or more channels. When it is, anyone added to the group is automatically added to those channels — a quick way to keep a team in sync as people join.
Who manages groups
Admins create user groups and add or remove members. Manage them in Customize workspace → User Groups.
