Notifications
Control what you're notified about, and when.
Notifications keep you on top of what matters without drowning you in the rest. Tune them at three levels: your activity feed, each channel, and your global preferences.
Activity feed
Your activity feed is a running list of what's relevant to you. Filter it by:
- All
- Direct messages
- Mentions
- Threads
Mark items as read, or clear them once you've dealt with them.
Per-channel notifications
Set each channel to notify you on:
- All messages
- Mentions only
- Nothing
You can also mute a channel, optionally until a time you choose. See Channels.
Global preferences
Open your account preferences to control notifications everywhere:
- Turn notifications on or off.
- Toggle sound and vibration.
- Enable desktop push and mobile push.
- Set quiet hours — a start/end window during which no push is sent. Quiet hours use your timezone.
- Toggle notification categories: messages, mentions, reactions, channel updates, and workspace updates.
Quiet hours follow your timezone
Quiet hours are based on the timezone set on your profile. Keep it accurate so the window lands where you expect. See Profile & status.
Pause notifications
Need quiet for a bit? From the account menu (your avatar), choose Pause notifications and pick how long — 30 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hours, or until tomorrow. Resume any time from the same place.
While paused, Sangria silences the alert — no push, no banner — but still records mentions and messages in your Activity feed, so nothing is lost: you catch up the moment you resume. Teammates can see you're paused, too — a small slash appears on your presence dot, so they know you may not respond right away.
Pause vs. quiet hours
Quiet hours are a recurring daily window. Pause is a one-off snooze for the next 30 minutes to tomorrow. Use pause when you need to focus now; use quiet hours for your regular off-hours.
Highlight words
Add highlight words — keywords that notify you like a mention whenever they appear. Matching is case-insensitive, and you can add up to 50 words.
Push across your devices
Notifications can arrive as push on the web, desktop, iOS, Android, and installed PWAs. Each device subscribes separately, so you'll get push on the ones you're set up on.
